zombieurungus

11 points

Have you seen the "higher education" most of it us can afford? It's a joke by the rest of the modern worlds standards, and most kids are getting terrible k-12.

I took courses at a community college and was THE ONLY PERSON who wasn't in at least one remedial class. The entire auditorium was freshman students who shouldn't have graduated high school. 🤦Free college won't fix our broken education system unfortunately, but it would be a good step to getting our money's worth.

SidKafizz

Well the Republicans do everything they can to prop up the dying coal industry. Coal miners just want jobs. (Just to note, coal is a nearly useless industry now. Other forms of energy are better and typically cheaper.)

I think it's too easy to blame the people who get exploited by politicians. They are promised what they want and that's enough for them to look past all the other BS.

Now, I can't explain why rural Republicans are so against social programs that will almost definitely be purely a benefit to them. They argue "I don't want to pay taxes to help poor people" while earning $35k a year. Look buddy, you are the poor person.

zombieurungus

Jlove7714

Oh God forbid we talk about unions. Those who stand to gain the most from joining a labor union fight it the hardest.

I feel like I'm sliding further and further to the left, but it seems pretty clear by the successful policies in other modern governments that the Democrats are planning correctly.

poopchute53

Ill tell you why. Its the WOKE movement that demands accountability. Woke demands that train tracks be maintained and serviced regularly so that hazardous materials dont get spilled over. Woke demands that banks be fairly regulated so that everyday people have a chance at affording groceries and rent. But these things are too decisive to ask for, and make people say that WOKE is blaming everyone else for their problems when in reality they cannot understand the concept of accountability and the fact that this system has been broken for so long, the people in charge of it are complacent with letting you SLEEP through the tragedies they pass through our court of law because they know you wont do anything about. Even better, they know you think you can be just like them one day.

Cruitire

Because when it comes to regular people republicans only care about controlling them.

When it comes to corporations they only care about their big pay off.

Ask yourself, how to congress people who enter congress with only a couple hundred thousand in the bank end up in four years as multimillionaire on a salary of $174,000 a year?

That math doesn’t add up and it’s all you need to know to understand why these crooks do what they do.

WaitingForNormal

Republicans don’t have the balls to go after real problems, so they go after the american people. They see nothing wrong with school shootings, or mothers dying, or children being uneducated, or destroying the planet we live on. And why? Because they believe that if they just appease a fictional man in the sky, everything will be alright. Insanity.

MostBotsAreBad

325 points

Solving real problems is hard. How the hell do you fix the roads and all the crumbling bridges? And you don't want to say you're gonna raise taxes. You don't want to try to come up with a solution, and then fail. That looks bad. You look incompetent.

So, instead, they invent problems, whip up outrage, and do nothing productive while pretending to be busy. What they really like is passing laws that will either get vetoed or reversed in court. No consequences! A lot of noise and busy nothing, and then the law doesn't even have any effect. No one can point to a consequence and show you were an idiot.

And then you can blame the Democrats (etc) for the law's failure, and next term you can pretend to work real hard on a new law that's eerily similar to that last one.

Honestly, the truth is far worse. They think the beliefs of the current general public are abhorrent therefore they do not support anything that will benefit the general public. It doesn't matter if that position ultimately hurts themselves as well. They would rather burn everything to the ground than allow for the existence of a society who doesn't reflect their values. Spite is the point.

It’s intentionally splitting the country into “us” and “them”. Their policies are impractical and unpopular, so few people will vote for republicans. The strategy is to instead get people to vote against democrats by convincing their base that democrats are Satan-worshipping baby-eaters.

In fairness, very few people will vote for democrats either, but it’s less because their policies are unpopular, and more because they’re spineless and too many people are convinced that the outcome will be the same stupid bullshit as if Republicans are elected.

FiendishHawk

Democrats are spineless because voters are skittish and easily spooked. Every time Democrats consider doing something major they have to consider the inevitable backlash that will put them out of office.

If you really want to have your mind blown, look at the performance of the stock market under Republicans vs Democrats.

Edit: I pulled this off an older post

under Democratic Presidents, the stock market has done an order of magnitude better over the past 90 years (10.8% v 1.7%), the GDP has grown 1.7 times faster over the past 70 years (4.33% v 2.54%) and jobs have increased 2.84x faster over the past 100 years (1% v 2.84%).

It's been there for decades, meanwhile Democrats have made inches of progress in gun control.

I think mentions of gun control should just be left out for a few elections, until we get this taint out of America and can clearly talk about policies rather than deal with the fearmongering.

Not trying to be insensitive, but there's a lot of people who aren't willing to give up their guns and simply will not vote D because of it.

I can tell you from Houston that if you want Texas to flip, this is the way.

It's the only way, really, with the insane gerrymandering. Look at a map of how they split up districts for House Reps. My district is 22 and I think they redrew it to go all the way to Beaumont.

I'm a leftist gun owner. No hand guns, but rifles and shotguns, hunting not tacticle. And there are more of my sort and moderate gun owners than the extreme right. But the small towns between the major cities control the agenda because of the gerrymandering. They are over represented.

I vote left no matter what because I'm a women and a mother and I have empathy and compassion.

You can get the moderates if you drop the gun issue for a few years.

The nazis cared more about privatization, corporate earnings, and deregulation of certain sectors. My grandparents saw this in their lives in the Old World and by the time people realized what was happening it was too late. Americans seem to understand what will happen when you take an ideas or something to its logical conclusion but I don't think that they can stop what's about to happen in America. Americans have committed genocide on indigenous peoples of the Americas, slavery, Japanese internment camps, migrants in kennel cages, and never a word or gesture of apology. I can't wait to see how this all comes together to magically fix the economy, seeing that they promised that was their top priority in the mid-terms.

There's no turning back now. The division is fully set in, there is no sorting this out. Communication is completely dead, the middle ground doesn't matter anymore. It used to be two parties that felt meaningless, now it feels like two factions that will be warring in the next few years. Maybe it won't go there, but hope is all but dead.

To quote Godforbid: "Don't try to butter me up with brotherly love or motherly stuff; we are utterly fucked. Convert your money into drugs and sharpen your cutlery up."

Wisconsin is having an important election for the whole nation right now. Early voting has already started and actual election day is April 4. In Wisconsin you can register up to... I believe same day voting, but double check.

Election includes state supreme court in a very gerrymandered state. Donate and vote if you can:

Wisconsin “is the only state where four of the last six presidential elections came down to less than one percentage point. Which means that small shifts in the rules around voting can have a decisive effect in presidential elections.

“Wisconsin’s supreme court race on April 4 is the most important election in the country before November 2024,” he added.

The state supreme court has also picked maps that allowed Republicans to maintain control over the state legislature and outlawed ballot drop boxes, making it harder for voters to return their mail-in ballots.

Think on it... Let's say all they cared for was money. That would explain how they cater to t5he wealthy. But then why do evil things like allow child marriage and ban books, etc. ?

Yes Linda. Republicans have always endorsed and espoused the merits of free market capitalism so that they can continue to consolidate wealth and power in the hands of the few. Most red Republican states are pro-business with fewer constraints and government oversight. Which is why in these states they openly embrace businesses from democratic states to move their firms and facilities there. Collective bargaining power of workers are curtailed with right to work laws, arbitration agreements, etc. Meanwhile they push against any pro liberal view in expanding protectional freedoms of marginalized groups because those are the groups businesses are exploiting.

Republicans hate Americans. Their body of work and what they say, when all put together, is the only logical outcome. Affordable Healthcare for Americans? No. Livable wages for Americans? No. Education for American Children? No. Lunches for American Children? No. Anything at all to benefit Americans? Absolutely not. When you point it out to them, what is their response? Cope and seethe, Snowflakes. It's why they attacked on Jan 6th and why they will again. It's why they bring up another civil war and refuse to work with Democrats to help Americans. They want Americans dead and America destroyed. They want a fascist ruler who can hurt those they hate.

THEY HATE WOMEN. The Trans issue for conservatives is biological men wanting to be women according to them, that is who they are specifically targeting. THEY HATE WOMEN so much that they hate men who identify as one. Conservatives see women as nothing more than fleshlights for men's sexual pleasure only and walking wombs for babies. Then add religion on top of it which further tells men & women, men are superior. Seriously when are these influencers, social media gurus, reporters, news anchors, writers, and talking heads begin saying it out loud, THEY HATE WOMEN.

I wish a country with some skill in managing their society would step in and help the US. I think it'll be really good for America when they let go of trying to insert themselves into every other country's business, concentrate on fixing themselves and allow China to take their rightful position as the dominant power. Something tells me hubris will have the US go down kicking and screaming though and they will learn nothing.
