You could do a lot worse. For just casual riding of short distances they should work fine. And as your skills grow and you want to branch out you can always move on to something better.

Don't look for anything new. All you'll find is crap at that price. Go to a good used bike shop and you might be able to pick up a bargain.

I've never ridden one, but I can see a use for them for people who have to travel and and don't have enough room for full sized bike.

And stupid riders. I've actually seen people texting while riding.
