You’re right, why didn’t they think of that!?

It’s not supposed to be funny, I barely post things on reddit, I had a conversation with someone about this yesterday and my mind was blown.

Went down a rabbit hole yesterday because of this whole inner voice thing and I saw this pop up a lot. If you try to read really fast, basically scanning almost instead of reading word per word, you skip over the unimportant word and don’t read it in your voice. So now do it slower, that’s basically how it is.

That’s really interesting, so you can more fluently talk in your head than out loud? I wonder how this is for people who stutter.

How does this happen slowly, did you English voice start to have a German accent or something, or did you start hearing some things in English and some in German?

Yea, it's just like when you're talking. You don't have to think of every sentence before you say it, you just say/write the words when it comes.

I just read it without saying or hearing it. Like imagine you read something that you can't pronounce, some weird language, I'm guessing you won't hear it then either. If I have to remember a sentence I usually just say it over and over until I remember it, if I have to make up text in my head I just see the words when I make the sentence.

When I read loud, then obviously I hear myself. When I read in myself I just analyze and process the sentences. Not really word for word, more like skipping the non-important words. But what do you hear when you read something that is in a language that you don't understand? Do you still try to pronounce it?

That's hilarious, I would just randomly start laughing sometimes if I did this lmao

Yes! I can't believe that it's that rare, everyone just has their own style of thinking apparently.

I literally thought everyone was like that before today. But all the deaf people must think without some voice as well, right? I see how this could actually be useful when solving problems or something, I feel kinda disappointed to not have this ability. But I do visualize things though, so maybe it's not that different?

Yes! I'm surprised how almost every comment here talks about their voice. I didn't know it was around 20%, I'm gonna ask some people about this tomorrow.

That was a super interesting video, thanks for the share! Kind of unsatisfying though cause the girl isn't really relatable either, especially the shapes in the sentences.

These comments making me feel like I'm missing some default part of the human brain lmao. Do you ever wish that you had some inner voice?

I guess everyone is just used to their own thinking style. It's mostly visual I guess, like if I'm thinking what to eat I'll just remember different foods what they look and taste like (but I guess everyone just does that?). When I'm reading I don't really read word per word, just jumping to keywords and you can kind of see the surrounding words without 100% focussing on them. Sometimes I do go back though cause I missed something. I wonder what happens if you read something that is in a different language (like French?), do you still say it even though you can't pronounce it?

Lmao, TIL that people could literally have a song stuck in their head

I can relate to this, thinking in words when writing an essay for example, and just actions or visuals or whatever is relevant. I'm amazed that there are many people here saying that they say or hear words in their head when they think of it.

That's the funniest thing I've read so far lmao, you can just have anyone narrate your life like you're the main character in a some story.

Damn, that was spot on. I don’t mentor or anything, but I’ve had many friends open up to me about these things as well.
